Barbara Cooper: Handbell
Barbara has been playing English handbells with the Bells of Westminster in Orangeville since 2008. In 2010 she became the assistant director of the Charming Chimers and the Altones, two children’s chime choirs. She has also been the assistant director teaching bell and chime workshops to students in schools through the Dufferin Arts Council’s “Artists in the Schools” program since 2010. Barbara began solo handbell ringing in September of 2012. She is the recipient of two scholarships through the Orangeville and District Music Festival for her solo handbell performances in 2013 and 2014. Barbara recently graduated from Lakehead University with a BA majoring in psychology in 2014. With the Bells of Westminster, Barbara has enjoyed playing bells at recent concerts at the Rose Theatre and Casa Loma. Barbara hopes to continue teaching bells and chimes while advancing her solo handbell ringing.
