Duelling Sopranos

GBC Divas Christina Lamoureux and Nune Ananyan strut their stuff in beautiful arias and duets for two sopranos. This performance will also include Brahms’ melodic Neue Liebeslieder for two pianists and chamber choir. Following the concert enjoy mouth-watering soups and stews (prepared for you by the choir), bread, cheese, and some decadent treats.

The short, dark December days are upon us and the chill of winter approaches. Autumn Leaves

Gabriel Fauré’s tempestuous Piano Quartet in C Minor best suits the nostalgia of autumn with its forgotten hopes. Violinist Sarah Raff, violist Jeewon Kim, cellist Mary Katherine Finch, and pianist Ron Greidanus promise you an impassioned performance of this highly turbulent piano quartet. Divine edibles will top off the evening.

Gershwin Meets Chopin

Gershwin’s flashy Rhapsody in Blue and Chopin’s majestic Piano Concerto in E Minor extend a brilliant goodbye to the heat of summer. Join the dynamic duo of pianists, Ron Greidanus and Kathryn Tremills, in an exciting evening of pianistic fireworks followed by a delicious reception.

The Passion According to St. John

Good Friday wouldn’t seem right without taking in a performance of Bach’s most dramatic presentation of the Passion of Christ. From the harpsichord, Maestro Greidanus will conduct full Baroque orchestra, choir and organ. Featured ‘narrator’ will be Bud Roach, while Jesus will be sung by the GBC’s own Bob Knight.

Virtuoso Baroque

The GBC tackles some of the most challenging music of the Baroque Era. Handel’s youthful Dixit Dominus and J.S. Bach’s Motet ‘Jesu Meine Freud’ are but two stunning works that will impress the listener’s ear.

The Beauty of Brahms

A wonderful way to help the sombre darkness of winter pass is to surround oneself with the glorious chamber music of this northern German composer. Brahms Piano Quintet in F minor is an epic work guaranteed to blow your sorrows away. A light repast of delicious soups, (prepared by the choir), cheeses, and breads will be offered to warm you.





Christmas from Ol’ Blighty

Christmas isn’t complete without an evening in The Piano Hall. This year the choir offers a collection of traditional English music including Vaughan Williams ‘Fantasy on Christmas Themes’.  A splendid spread of culinary treats follows the concert, which will, of course include Yvonne Oldaker’s delicious mince tarts!

This season the GBC is excited to present its highly energized and dramatic rendition of Handel’s most famous Oratorio.  Complete with period orchestra, fine soloists and a heavenly choir of angels, let a performance of this timeless work help set the mood for Christmas.
